Boycott Acme Market, Toys-R-Us and Cadillac
We Got Them on the Run
Since the community started our boycott of Acme Markets, Toys-R-Us and Cadillac dealerships all kinds of bad things have happened to them. Toys-R-Us has lost its hold as the biggest toys retailer in the country. Wal-Mart has taken over the number one position. Toys-R-Us chief executive officer has also had to step down because operation and sales at the company have been so bad. Sales will get a lot worse before they get better.
Over at Cadillac, for the first time in history, Cadillac is not the largest seller of luxury cars in America. For the first time ever, Lincoln outsold Cadillac last year. We have to keep the pressure on. Remember to tell everyone you know not to buy any cars from a Cadillac dealership. If they must have a luxury car, tell them to get a Lincoln.
Acme has announced any suffering news, yet, but you can rest assured that it is coming. It has to. As more and more people learn about the boycott, there will be fewer of us shopping in the markets.
As you can see from the letter on page 3 (Thanks) poor people in general and Black people in particular are perceived as jokes to those who are getting a free ride on our backs. Now understand this - its okay to give rides on our backs but we must be paid for them and we want to ride sometimes, too.
The reason for the boycott is letting, not just Acme, Toys-R-Us and Cadillac, all retail chains know that we are fed up with supporting them with our money and their doing nothing for us in return. Trenton is like the hole in a doughnut with prosperous communities all around us. There is no good reason why so few businesses locate in town other than a deliberate effort to keep us poor.
How does having a business in your community help? 1. Taxes; 2. Employment; 3. Community Pride; 4. Community Support, baseball, parades, schools; 5. Enrichment; 6. Support surrounding businesses; 7. Infrastructure improvements; 8. Better schools because of tax base; 9. Jobs close to home means less spent going to work; 10. Utilize community businesses for service work; 11. Intangibles, prestige; 12. businesses will attract other business; 13. Other businesses spend a lot of money trying to get you to spend your money with them. (See page 3 for more). Keep the Pressure on!!!
